Alignment and coherence

I have been telling people for years that even though I don’t have a crystal ball, I can predict their future just by listening and observing them. People will think one thing, and say it out loud and often, they think one thing and say something else altogether and they do this for multiple reasons. Listening to what people say, gives me an idea about their thoughts, their belief systems and so on. Rarely, have I seen the actions that followed what people say. This doesn’t even include the complaining that people do. Listening to people, and I will include, observing people’s body language will show if their words, and body language, are congruent. One thing I have come to learn is that the body usually speaks more truthfully than the words that come out of people’s mouths.

The image that often comes to my mind is that of a building. The building developer, has an idea for a project, then selects the land, makes the blueprints, hires the builders, buys the materials needed to build and starts building the structure. What is clear in this image is that there is an order in which things are done. First there is an idea, then an action, then another idea, and another action, and so forth until the building is done. It makes sense, and yet, very few people see the parallel with themselves, with their lives.
